(A)Political - November 9th

Good morning, and welcome to (A)Political. We made it! Donald Trump is the winner of the most intense election of the century! In what was expected to be a razor thin race, Donald Trump won all seven swing states in his landslide electoral victory, along with winning the popular vote. There is a lot to break down even with results still coming in. Let's get to the latest stories:

Donald Trump will now be the 47th President of the United States after the election on Tuesday. He managed to pull off the greatest political comeback in American history, and is now going full throttle towards preparing what the next four years will be.

The Senate is now in firm Republican control as there are at least 53 Republican senators headed for power in the next elected Congress, and there are more possible seats that can swing red depending on how the results play out in Arizona.

It's looking like the Republicans will retain control of the House of Representatives. As of Friday evening, 23 races are yet to be called and only 6 more need to go Republican in order for a majority.

Lastly, we have some awesome merch coming out soon! Keep an eye out for an email for when it comes out and the exclusive drop we have!

Lets get into it!

The Greatest Political Comeback. Ever.

Donald Trump secured his position as the 47th president of the United States, winning both the electoral college and the popular vote in a victory that defied political expectations. Fox News was the first to call the race early Wednesday morning, with other networks holding back until Pennsylvania's results made Trump's lead over Vice President Kamala Harris mathematically insurmountable. The Associated Press officially called the race at 5:45 a.m.

Trump will become the first president since Grover Cleveland in 1892 to serve two nonconsecutive terms. The victory marks a definitive repudiation of the political establishment that had consistently worked to prevent his return to power following the events of January 6.

A Different Kind of Coalition

Exit polls indicated significant shifts in Trump's electoral base, showing substantial gains with Hispanic and Black voters while maintaining his strong support among white working-class voters. The campaign's unconventional strategy of targeting young male voters through podcast appearances proved particularly effective.

Trump's media strategy diverged significantly from traditional political outreach, featuring appearances on "The Joe Rogan Experience" and Barstool Sports' "Bussin' With the Boys." These non-traditional media engagements contributed to a marked demographic shift evident at his victory celebration, where the Palm Beach Convention Center drew a notably younger crowd than previous campaign events.

Surviving Everything They Threw at Him

The path to victory included numerous obstacles, including multiple criminal indictments and a summer assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet struck Trump's ear. The photograph of Trump raising his fist in defiance following the incident became a defining campaign image.

UFC president Dana White addressed the victory gathering, characterizing Trump's resilience: "This is what happens when the machine comes after you. He keeps going forward. He doesn't quit." Political operative Roger Stone attributed Trump's success to the opposition's tactics, stating that attempts to prosecute and silence Trump "just made him bigger and more powerful."

The Next Chapter

Trump's victory speech notably avoided direct criticism of Harris, instead focusing on broader themes. "Many people have told me God spared my life for a reason, and that reason was to save our country, and to restore America to greatness," Trump declared to supporters.

The Republican Party secured additional victories, gaining three Senate seats. While House control remained uncertain, the appearance of Speaker Mike Johnson alongside Trump at the victory celebration suggested unified party support for the incoming administration's agenda.

What It All Means

Trump's victory represents a fundamental restructuring of American political coalitions. His campaign successfully assembled a multi-ethnic, multi-class coalition while maintaining focus on two primary issues: immigration and economic concerns. The Trump campaign characterized these as "Issue 1A and 1B," a strategy that proved more effective than Harris's emphasis on democracy preservation and abortion rights.

The victory signals a departure from traditional Republican positions on international intervention and corporate interests. Trump's platform promises sweeping tariffs, a strategic withdrawal from global conflicts including Ukraine, and concentrated focus on domestic issues, particularly border security.

Trump's unprecedented return to power, overcoming both legal challenges and establishment opposition, marks a decisive shift in American political dynamics. His promise of a "golden age" ahead will face the test of governing a nation that granted him both electoral and popular vote victories, a first for a Republican since George W. Bush in 2004. With Supreme Court appointments likely, and a potential presidential run by Vance in 2028, the shockwaves of this election will likely be felt for decades to come.
