(A)Political - November 2nd
Good afternoon, and welcome to (A)Political. It's finally here! 3 days and we'll have our biggest political superbowl of the 21st century! I was going to make my main article about Trump V Kamala, but you don't live under a rock. Let's get to the latest stories:
Early voting is underway, and several states are running into problems with a keeping it a fair fight. Kentucky, Washington, Oregon, and Pennsylvania have all experienced various forms of vote tampering, vote destruction, and voters being unable to cast a ballot on a significant scale.
CBS is now being sued by Donald Trump for $10 billion dollars for the editing that took place on a 60 minutes interview of Kamala Harris. Trump states that the "deceptive" editing is election interference and is definitively illegal. CBS pushed back with it's claim to the 1st amendment.
Donald Trump and Liz Cheney duke it out after Trump called out Cheney for her war hawk stance during a Tucker Carlson event on Thursday. Political commentators on both sides had a field day.
Lastly, we have some awesome merch coming out soon! Keep an eye out for an email for when it comes out and the exclusive drop we have!
Lets get into it!
Early Voting Chaos In Multiple States

Pennsylvania Mail-In Ballot Controversy Deepens
In a concerning development for Pennsylvania election officials, Monroe County has uncovered approximately 30 fraudulent mail-in ballot request forms, including one submitted on behalf of a deceased person. District Attorney Mike Mancuso announced the discovery following a routine review of mail-in ballot requests and voter registration forms. The investigation has traced these irregular submissions to Field and Media Corps, an Arizona-based consulting firm operating out of Lancaster County.
The company, which specializes in voter registration drives and campaign outreach, faces scrutiny in multiple Pennsylvania counties. York and Lancaster counties have also reported suspicious registration forms linked to the organization. While Field and Media Corps maintains its commitment to "nonpartisan voter registration," the company has yet to provide a detailed response to the allegations, stating only that they haven't been contacted by election officials and would cooperate if approached.
The situation has grown more complex as the Pennsylvania Democratic Party filed a lawsuit in Erie County, claiming between 10,000 and 20,000 voters haven't received requested mail-in ballots. A Democratic Party hotline has logged 552 complaints from voters either receiving incorrect ballots or none at all. Erie County's election board acknowledges the issue but has yet to explain the cause.
Kentucky's Electronic Voting Machine Malfunction
In Kentucky, election integrity concerns escalated when voters reported a troubling malfunction with electronic voting machines in Laurel County. Initially dismissed, the issue gained credibility when County Clerk Tony Brown confirmed that a machine had indeed selected Kamala Harris when voters attempted to choose Donald Trump.
After initial denials, Brown issued a detailed statement explaining that the problem occurred when voters touched "some area in between the boxes" on the ballot marking device. The glitch proved difficult to replicate consistently, but its confirmation has raised concerns about voting accuracy. Brown emphasized that the machines require multiple verification steps before finalizing votes, including showing voters their selections twice and allowing for ballot spoilage if errors are detected.
Arson Attacks Target Ballot Drop Boxes in Pacific Northwest
Perhaps most alarming are the coordinated attacks on ballot drop boxes in Portland, Oregon, and Vancouver, Washington. On Monday morning, both cities experienced attempted arsons targeting election infrastructure, with Vancouver suffering the greater damage. While Portland's box survived thanks to its fire-suppression system, destroying only three ballots, the Vancouver location saw hundreds of ballots incinerated when its protective measures failed.
Law enforcement believes the incidents are connected to an earlier October 8 arson attempt in Vancouver. Police are searching for a Volvo S-60 sedan, model years 2001-2004, spotted at both locations during the early morning attacks. The timing proves particularly concerning as Vancouver sits within Washington's 3rd Congressional District, home to one of the nation's most competitive House races between Democratic incumbent Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican challenger Joe Kent.
The stakes couldn't be higher, as this district could determine House control. With Democrats representing 54% of mail-in ballot requests in Washington, compared to Republicans' 36%, any successful attack on urban drop boxes disproportionately impacts Democratic voters.
Response and Security Measures
Election officials across affected states are implementing enhanced security measures. In Washington, Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey announced increased ballot collection frequency and 24-hour monitoring of drop boxes. Pennsylvania officials have extended early voting hours in Bucks County following long lines at polling sites, with Judge Jeffrey Trauger allowing mail-in ballot applications through Friday.
These incidents occur against the backdrop of an increasingly tense election season, with Pennsylvania emerging as a crucial battleground state. Recent polling from RealClearPolitics shows Trump maintaining a narrow 0.7 percent lead over Harris, with the state's 19 electoral votes potentially decisive in the presidential race.
The convergence of technical malfunctions, fraudulent ballot requests, and outright attacks on voting infrastructure has election officials scrambling to maintain public trust while ensuring secure ballot access. As November 5 approaches, the challenge of conducting fair and accurate elections faces unprecedented hurdles, testing the resilience of America's democratic processes.
These early voting disruptions highlight the complex balance between accessibility and security in modern elections, with officials working to address immediate concerns while maintaining the integrity of the voting system. The coming days will prove critical in determining whether these challenges represent isolated incidents or signal broader threats to election administration.
